A FEW PEA FACTOIDS
The Guinness World Record (1984) for eating peas is held by Janet Harris of Sussex who ate 7175 peas one by one in 60 minutes using chopsticks. Matt Hand holds another record (2001) for cocktail-sticking 211 peas one-at-a-time in 3 minutes.
Peas are the most popular vegetable in the UK. The average Brit eats 9000 a year.
In 1995 Barnabas Chappell of Shropshire grew a pea 20cm in diameter - that's roughly the size of a baby's head.
Oh, and we're pretty sure the tiny plant in the movie "WALL-E" is a pea! (compare below)
